Halloween New England Top Picks for September 28- October 5th, 2016

We wait all year for this moment - the start of Halloween season!
Halloween New England has you covered all season long with upcoming events and we'll help you stay on top of new Halloween Attractions opening up. Tune in each Thursday for our Top Picks, highlights for the weekend, special events not to be missed, contests, and other essential info to keep you on top of everything this Halloween.

Top Event picks for the upcoming week:

It's the third-annual Day of the Dead Scavenger Hunt coming up this Sunday, October 2nd in Taunton, MA. We couldn't wait to check out this event last year and trust us that it didn't disappoint! The hunt includes a full-day of clues, puzzle solving, and adventuring across Taunton and neighboring towns in search of locations with haunted history and other creepy lore. It's a costumes-if-you-wish type of event (you'll spend much of it driving from one historic or sinister location to the next) and you'll find yourself completing different challenges while documenting them for points along the way. Prizes are involved so although you will have a blast, you may want to compete hard to win over $1000 in cash and prizes.  Day of the Dead Scavenger Hunt details.

With so much going on in Salem during the next month consider checking out Haunted Happenings Magazine or, better yet, download their app for the most updated calendar.

If you're in Salem this weekend, be sure to stop by Purgatorium I which is a FREE all-day music festival and Halloween Kick-off Party! Located by the Essex St Fountain, Purgatorium will feature live music from some of the region’s best solo acts and bands, and will be chock full of spooky and fun family-friendly activities of all kinds!  Costumes are welcome and encouraged--after all, it's SALEM people! Click for more details on Purgatorium I.

If you'll be in Salem over the next month, check out Salem Historical Tours and book early to lock in one of their multiple daily tours to fit when you're planning to be in the Witch City.

2016 Opening Night Guide for Haunted Attractions across New England

Halloween New England Opening Night Guide to Haunted Attractions

Fall officially began this past week and on Thursday we kicked off the New England haunt season! It's particularly welcome that the arrival of crisp weather has lined up well for outdoor attractions as well--it just feels like fall ought to.

When haunts open up, it also signals the beginning of Halloween New England's season too. FIFTEEN haunted attractions opened up this weekend which must surely be a record for the next to last weekend in September--we say, bring it on! Next weekend--Sept 30th - Oct 2nd-- is a HUGE weekend for haunted attraction opening nights and even more are opening up over the next two weekends.

Halloween New England Opening Night Guide to Haunted Attractions The Pixel Perfection After Dark
It is incredibly time-consuming to sort through dozens of websites to find out when the local haunts, trails, flashlight mazes and haunted hayrides will be opening up--Halloween New England has the solution.

Rather than have tens of thousands of New England haunt fans separately spending precious hours researching the info, we did it all for you. We compiled all the the opening nights into a nifty guide to help you plot out and plan for your thrills this season.

Be a good friend and remember to SHARE the Opening Night Guide with your fellow thrill-seeking, adrenaline-junkie pals.

Stay tuned for more guides all season long including our Guide to Haunted Attractions Open on Sundays and Weeknights for the folks who love to check out haunts on off-peak nights and our Guide to Haunted Attractions Open on Halloween for well, isn't it obvious?

We're thrilled to be teaming up again with New England's own uber-talented The Pixel Perfection: After Dark whose incredibly creepy and inspiring haunt photos populate the guides again this year. As always, we know you love their photos...just please don't steal their photos! Why not just follow them on Facebook instead or hire them to capture your Halloween attraction or event?
