Massachusetts Halloween Events (full guide)
Every Wednesday through Sunday in October, take a stroll on the Concord Tour Company's very special Ghosts in the Gloaming tour through two cemeteries and part of Monument Square while you listen to tales of hidden rooms, learn of a long-forgotten but gruesome murder, unsolved mysteries, and of course - ghosts! Ghosts in the Gloaming is a twilight tour where you can explore the darker side of Concord's history and tales seldom told.
Thursday, October 10th in North Andover, join the Gravestone Girls for their presentation of "Past the Cemetery Gate, the Graveyard as Genealogical Resource" which invites you to explore cemeteries as a valuable resource for data collection activities! Learn how to 'read' the cemetery for clues and information while using both direct observation and deductive reasoning from objects such as the writing, art, geology and the cemetery landscape to answer questions, create new inquiries and open doors for further detective work. Genealogists welcome!
Frightful Fridays Ghost Stories return to the Gore Mansion in Waltham to kick off your weekend with an evening of spooky tales and haunted activities inside this 1806 mansion at night. The tour lasts one hour and promises to be a fun alternative to the usual gruesome fair.
For a different kind of Halloween craft, this Sunday, Oct 13th in Salem, sign up for the Teacup Mouse Taxidermy Class at Hive & Forge. Nikki Deerest of Lone Fox Taxidermy will walk you through "how to skin, prep, and mount a life-size mouse which will be set in a teacup. We'll be going over all of the details so that you learn the skills you need to start basic taxidermy. This is a great gateway into the world of this unique art form."
Also in Salem on Sunday, is a "Dante's Inferno" Film Screening with Live Score by Maurizio Guarini at the Peabody Essex Museum.
"From its sumptuous mise en scène combined with revolutionary special effects creating imagery that remains shocking by today’s standards, director Giuseppe de Liguoro’s realization of Alighieri’s Hell on screen continues to define fire and brimstone in the public’s imagination to this day." Maurizio Guarini will be performing the score live during the film to make for a very special matinee screening.
Sunday night October 13th at DementedFX Haunted House in Holyoke it is First Responders Night where Police, Firefighters, and EMTs have access to $18 tickets at the door!
Tuesday, October 15th it's Devil's Night at Barrett's Haunted Mansion in Abington, MA where you can brave their one and only evening with physical contact, complete terror, and pure chaos at this limited ticket event. Both haunted attractions will be open during this event and customers must be 16 years of age or older to participate (including parental permission required for those under 18).
