With October arriving after the weekend, we are thrilled that our favorite month of the year is knocking at the door! Bring on the thrills, pumpkins, traditions, lights, decorated yards, haunted trails, costume contests, Halloween displays, and yes, bring on the candy too.

We're also thrilled to see a flood of Halloween events finally being confirmed all around the region. In fact, we've added hundreds to our Halloween Events calendars over the last week so now you'll have a taste of what is lined up during a most-unusual Halloween season.

We've added dozens of new events to the MA Events calendar but most won't kick in until October. Until then, our top picks would be the weekend creature-double-feature lineup at Barrett's Haunted Mansion with their new Screens and Screams drive-in horror movie experience.

On Friday, September 25th you'll find "The Lost Boys" followed by "30 Days of Night" and Saturday, September 26th's slate is "Poltergeist" followed by "Silent Hill". Advance tickets required and options for ordering from the menu at Abington Ale House for food delivery right to your car!

If you are looking for some spooky history presented virtually, the Attleboro Library welcomes you to reserve your spot to tune in for "A History of the Witch Persecutions" happening Wednesday, September 30th. Pre-registration required 48 hours in advance.

Plus, take a sneak peek at all-ages events coming up on the calendar on our Family-friendly Halloween Event Guide for MA.

It's no secret here at Halloween New England, that we are big fans of Seaside Shadows Haunted History Tours. They offer twilight tours at two locations in Mystic, CT nearly every night of the week! This Saturday, September 26th, they have an additional special tour lined up at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Check out the twilight tours with Seasides Shadows as well - Downtown Mystic Ghost Stroll and the Moonlit Mystic Graveyard Tour and, as always, advance bookings required.

This Tuesday, September 29th the Meriden Public Library is Zoom hosting a is a virtual class--Monster Drawing for Kids as part of their Art at Home series. Geared toward grades K-5, kids can get in the spooky spirit by trying their hand at drawing monsters with guided instruction. Pre-registration is required.

Downtown New Haven's free Movies in the Plaza series is still going strong at Pitkin Plaza and next Wednesday, September 30th they've got "Edward Scissorhands" on tap for their outdoor film screening of the week.

Pumpkintown USA is a beloved attraction for the littlest goblins with a walk-through village of buildings made for the pumpkin "people". For this year, families will be thrilled to know this event has been adapted to a drive-through experience for 2020 rather than the interactive walk-through of prior years. Renamed "The Ride at Pumpkintown", reservations are required for this 20-minute event now offered 7-days a week.

This Friday, September 25th, sign up for a special Paranormal Investigation at The Farm on Round Top (the Arnold Estate)--AKA The Conjuring House-- in Harrisville, RI and hosted by The 555 Para-Psychics.
"The Arnold Estate, located in Harrisville, R.I., is a rare and truly unique destination. An authentic Colonial home, circa 1736, its rich and mysterious history will entice those seeking some paranormal adventure. It provides an opportunity to revisit a bygone era, along with the spirits who once inhabited the home – and still do! This mystical, magical farmhouse offers all of its visitors a thoroughly transformational experience. Most famous for its association with “The Conjuring” (the infamous feature film released in 2013) a horror movie released a torrent of interest in this supernatural stronghold. It is likely the most haunted house in America, revealed in detail by the Perron family who once dwelled within its walls for a decade during the 1970s. Though the film was fictionalized, the truth is stranger than fiction." This is a special evening and requires advance tickets to reserve your spot. Details here.

Get your tickets in advance for next Wednesday's Haunted Boat Tour in Providence where you'll cruise along cobblestone walkways and moonlit bridges for a relaxing and spooky 1-hour tour.

In scenic Portsmouth, RI you'll find Escobar Farm hosting their annual Pumpkin Festival at Escobar Farm on Saturday, September 26th (rain date Sept 27). Look for pumpkin games, crafts, face painting and scarecrow making fun for everyone!  Environmental artists Michael Higgins will be there on Saturday to amaze you with his chainsaw skill.  Plus, who can resist getting "lost" in their expansive corn maze! This year's maze theme celebrates farmers and they've even added hayrides to their fall activities
Find more kids' activities on our Family-friendly Halloween Events Guide for all-ages fun in RI.

Our top recommendation in the Green Mountain state this week is to spend an non-scary (but very atmospheric) evening under the stars amidst the corn stalks as you wend your way through the corn maze during the Gaines Farm Twilight Maze night! Visit the maze this Saturday night, September 26th in Guilford which is 1 mile over the MA state line and easy to reach right off I-91.
