Weekly Top Picks Oct 1st - 7th, 2020

Happy October everyone!

After 11 months of waiting and counting down the days, our favorite month is here at last! Even if the temperatures have remained warmer than usual, the blustery wind and the clusters of golden leaves gathering along the sidewalk edges and tumbling across parks and yards do manage to make New England looks like October ought to! Before we know it, there will be a chill in the air and our wool sweaters will make an appearance with our scarves.

Event-wise, things are still ramping up slowly which is likely to be how things unfold over the next month. As we highlighted last week, there are more virtual/online events than ever so we encourage people looking for online Halloween fun to poke around in other states' Halloween New England Event Guides. Bonus, there are more weeknight online events so you might even be able to pack in more Halloween-themed presentations and virtual events in a give week than you would in a more typical season.

This Friday, September 25th, sign up for a special Paranormal Investigation at The Farm on Round Top (the Arnold Estate)--AKA The Conjuring House-- in Harrisville, RI and hosted by The 555 Para-Psychics.
"The Arnold Estate, located in Harrisville, R.I., is a rare and truly unique destination. An authentic Colonial home, circa 1736, its rich and mysterious history will entice those seeking some paranormal adventure. It provides an opportunity to revisit a bygone era, along with the spirits who once inhabited the home – and still do! This mystical, magical farmhouse offers all of its visitors a thoroughly transformational experience. Most famous for its association with “The Conjuring” (the infamous feature film released in 2013) a horror movie released a torrent of interest in this supernatural stronghold. It is likely the most haunted house in America, revealed in detail by the Perron family who once dwelled within its walls for a decade during the 1970s. Though the film was fictionalized, the truth is stranger than fiction." This is a special evening and requires advance tickets to reserve your spot. Details here.

We have two special New England costume and makeup supply stores we'd like to recommend for your last-minute costume needs and final details.
Not every New England state can boast that they have a year-round, brick-and-mortar costume store but New Hampshire can! Costumania in West Lebanon moved to a new, bigger store to offer even more to their customers. If you can't get there in person, they also feature an online store.

Massachusetts-based Vampfangs is strictly an online store and they should be your first stop to buy special FX teeth (vampires, zombies, hillbillies, etc), FX contact lenses (blackout, werewolf, zombie, you name it), 3-D prosthetic transfers, conventional prosthetics, quality FX makeup, and even fragrances!
